Alicia Abe

Alicia is a trans woman who works as a photographer, film director, and cinematographer. In her constant pursuit of the sublime, she uses light capture, digital art, and language as tools to reconstruct new landscapes and bodies.

She began her visual production during a six-month period in Yokohama, Japan, in 2007, and has experience in fashion photography, audiovisual productions for digital media, cinematography for short films, commercial and editorial productions. She also works as a fine art photographer, represented by WG Galeria in São Paulo, Brazil. She was the cinematographer for the short film Erguida, which won three awards at the 2023 Brasília Film Festival: Best Actress, Best Affirmative Theme Screenplay, and Best Short Film. Her short film A Última Foto (The Last Photo) is also currently being screened at other festivals.

Whether on expeditions through natural landscapes or in urban environments, Alicia expands her ways of storytelling through a wide variety of platforms and narratives.
